A big $10 million jackpot winning ticket was recently sold in Ontario, but that isn’t the only big winner to recently come from the area.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corp announced that there have been more than 50 winners claiming prizes of over $50,000 since the implementation of COVID-19 lockdowns.
The total value of all the winnings combined came to over $156 million, including 10 big jackpot wins. The lottery board says that are currently working on getting their claims department fully operational so players can claim their winnings.
“Paying big prizes, that’s the best part of our job, making winners. I know lots of winners are obviously anxious to get their prize money,” said Dana Kuthey, a representative from the OLG.
Any winners claiming over $49,999 need to collect their winnings in person, so the OLG offices are expected to be very busy in the coming weeks.
Kuthey explains the cliams process as, “Our prize claim staff need to look at the ticket, see the ticket first hand. There are a number of controls on that ticket to ensure every time that the right prize goes to the right person.”
Play online and never worry about having to claim your prize in person, all online lottery winnings are deposited directly into your account.
